Landslide blocks Jayaprithvi Highway

Chainpur, September 5 — The Jayaprithvi Highway in Bajhang has been blocked due to landslides. The road has been closed since 7 a.m. today following a dry landslide near Tamail Bazar. This blockage has prevented both long-distance and local vehicles from traveling to and from the district headquarters, Chainpur.

Bus operator Jog Bahadur Daulyal informed that only five buses departed from the headquarters this morning. He noted that only a few buses heading to Dhangadhi, Kathmandu, Mahendranagar, and Dadeldhura from Bajhang managed to leave, while all other services have been halted.

Chief District Officer Bishwamitra Kuinkel stated that a JCB excavator was dispatched from Jhota in Kedarsyun Rural Municipality to clear the road. However, the landslide has continued, preventing the road from being reopened. The road will remain closed until the landslide ceases.
