Nepal Bar Association calls off protest program

Kathmandu, September 2 — The Nepal Bar Association, representing legal professionals, has announced the withdrawal of its planned protest.

In a statement issued on Monday, General Secretary Anjita Khanal confirmed that the protest has been canceled.

The Bar Association conducted a sit-in at the Supreme Court on Monday following a demonstration outside the Judicial Council the previous day.

The Bar had earlier submitted a memorandum to the Judicial Council and Chief Justice Bishwombhar Prasad Shrestha, raising concerns about the changes made to the Judicial Council Regulations, 2074 (First Amendment, 2080), which they argue are unconstitutional.

The Association had been protesting these new regulations and had called on the relevant authorities to revoke them.
