Originally from Bhojpur, Nepal, Pandey had been studying at Houston Community College. According to Drona Gautam, the first vice president of the Nepali Association of Houston, Pandey came to the United States in 2021 for her studies. Her mother, Anita Pandey Adhikari, who resides in Kathmandu, has been notified of the tragic incident.

Pandey was the only child in her family. Her phone had reportedly been switched off since Saturday, leading to suspicions that the incident may have occurred over the weekend. However, there is no concrete information about the exact time or circumstances surrounding her death. Police stated that no weapon was found at the scene, and they have yet to determine a motive.

It is also unclear whether Pandey was living alone in the apartment or if someone else was present. Given that her phone had been off since Saturday and no one reported the incident until Monday, it is believed that she may have been alone when the tragic event occurred.
