NEPSE plunges 80 points on week’s first trading day

Kathmandu, August 25 — The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) experienced a significant drop on the first trading day of the week. On Sunday, the NEPSE index plummeted by 79.88 points to 2,894.57 points.

Previously, on the last trading day of the week, Thursday, the NEPSE had closed with a modest gain of 6.01 points, reaching 2,974.46 points.

According to NEPSE, on Sunday, a total of 46,86,640 shares were traded, with a turnover of NPR 19.74 billion.

Most sub-indices ended the day lower. All sectors except microfinance saw declines, with the banking sector experiencing the largest drop of 3.50 percent.

Despite the overall market downturn, shares in Win Nepal Microfinance, Upakar Microfinance, and Aatmanirbhar Microfinance saw a 10 percent increase. Conversely, investors in Mandakini Hydropower faced significant losses.

In terms of trading volume, Api Power Company led the turnover, followed by Himalayan Reinsurance.
