Tanahun bus crash: Bodies of 25 deceased airlifted to Mumbai
Chitwan, August 24 - The bodies of 25 victims from the recent bus accident in Tanahun have been transported to Mumbai by an Indian Air Force plane. The plane departed from Bharatpur Airport in Chitwan carrying the deceased on Saturday.
Minister of State for Youth and Sports of India, Raksha Nikhil Khadse, was also aboard the plane.
According to the District Administration Office of Chitwan, the bodies of the driver and co-driver, who also perished in the accident, were transported by road to Gorakhpur.
Minister Khadse traveled to Kathmandu on Saturday to assess the condition of the injured and to oversee the repatriation of the bodies. This visit was arranged by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The tragic accident occurred on Friday when an Indian bus, UP 53 FT 7623, carrying 43 veered off the road and plunged into Marshyangdi river at Ainapahara in Aanbookhaireni Rural Municipality-4 of Tanahun.
The accident resulted in 27 deaths and 16 injuries. All the passengers were from Maharashtra and had entered Nepal by bus from Uttar Pradesh.
