New Nepali films Sati Devi and Nametine Ghau premiere today

Kathmandu, August 23 - Two new Nepali films, Sati Devi and Nametine Ghau, have premiered today, creating a competitive cinematic landscape across the country. Sati Devi, directed by Laxman Subedi, tells the story of a woman, while Nametine Ghau focuses on the experiences of an acid attack survivor.

Sati Devi

Starring Malika Mahat, Sati Devi features an ensemble cast including Ramesh Budhathoki, Bholaraj Sapkota, Kuldeep Adhikari, Sandeep Babu Lohani, Srijana Adhikari, Manisha Sapkota, Sujitha Siwakoti, Tulsi Shrestha, Ishwari Singh, Sandesh Limbu, Pawan KC, and Jagdish Adhikari.

The film premiered on Big Movies last Tuesday evening and received a warm reception, with many viewers moved to tears. The audience praised the film for its strong social message advocating gender equality. Malika Mahat portrays Sati Devi Adhikari, a village girl from Lamjung, in a narrative that explores the bond between father and daughter and challenges patriarchal societal norms. Director Subedi describes the film not only just a film, but a revolution.

Produced by Dilasha Creation and Golden State Movie Makers LLC California, the film features a screenplay and dialogues written by director Subedi. Sridevi, Dilasa, and Sara Subedi are the producers.

Nametine Ghau

Nametine Ghau sheds light on the plight of acid attack survivors, with notable appearances by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, former Education Minister Devendra Paudel, and MP Gyanendra Shahi.

The film stars Muskan Khatun, Prati Paudel, Eva Giri, Kamal Devkota, Sandeep Babu Lohani, Rachna Gautam, Prabhat Pal Thakuri, Aarti Acharya, Akhil Bajgai, Reksha Neupane, Kranti Shah, Birendra Singh Kushwaha, Lalna Chimoria, Swastima Karki, Liza Korani, Elisa Gurung, Bishal Devkota, Arju Adhikari, and Arju Lekhak, and is produced by Ramit Dhungana Film Production.

The film features cinematography by Neeraj Kandel, editing by Banish Shah, and music by Om Sunar.
