Stock market turnover exceeds Rs 29.95 billion
Kathmandu, August 15: The stock market set a new record on Thursday marking the highest turnover ever. On the last trading day of the week, the market surged past the 3,000-point mark within minutes of opening, with trading volumes exceeding Rs 6 billion.
The NEPSE index ended the day up by 43.05 points, reaching 3,081 points, after experiencing significant fluctuations. According to the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), the total turnover was over Rs 29.95 billion.
The sub-index for the banking group rose by 5.56 points, positively impacting the overall market.
The sub-indices for development banks, hotels and tourism, hydropower, investment, mutual funds, non-life insurance, and trading sectors also showed gains, while the remaining five sub-indices declined.
Share prices of 105 companies increased, whereas 137 companies saw a decrease.
Notably, the share prices of Butwal Power Company, Rashtriya Bima Company, and Modi Energy Limited reached positive circuit limits, while Nepal Finance Limited’s share price hit a negative circuit.
