Balen leaves for Brazil

Kathmandu:  Mayor Balendra Shah (Balen) of Kathmandu Metropolitan City has left for Brazil to attend the meeting of the Metropolis Board of Directors.

He left for Brazil on a flight at 2:15 this morning to participate in the meeting to be held in Sao Paulo, Brazil on June 19 and 20.

After attending the meeting, he is scheduled to return home on June 22. The Mayor is accompanied by Sunil Lamsal, advisor of Infrastructure at KMC.

Shah is a member of Metropolis Board of Directors. Metropolis is an international organization that promotes global cooperation, dialogue, exchange of knowledge and solutions, and raises the voice of the big cities of the world.

The Board of Directors will discuss on challenges of urban settelment and come up with a resolution for safe and comfortable housing. Shah will address the meeting.

As part of the program, Mayor Shah will present his views as a panelist on the 'Metropolis Policy Debate' related to metropolitan welfare and improvement of living standards. The session will be held on Wednesday under the title of 'Mayoral Round Table'.

According to KMC, Balen's talk will be focused on the dimensions of urban housing and a global common program to reduce climate risks.  Adequate infrastructure, low carbon footprint and an inclusive approach to meet the diverse needs of each member of the community will be discussed in the session.
