'Mayors Forum' discussion with Prime Minister Prachanda, Balen absent
Kathmandu: Officials of the 'Mayors Forum' held a discussion with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda'.
The discussion organized by the Prime Minister on Friday focused on the role and responsibility of the federal government and the local government in waste management in Kathmandu Valley.
In the said discussion, Prime Minister Prachanda informed that the investment board has advanced the necessary process in accordance with the recommendation of the Mayors Forum that the federal government should coordinate the waste management of Kathmandu Valley.
Prime Minister Prachanda said, 'Your forum has recommended that the federal government coordinate the work related to waste management in Kathmandu Valley. Accordingly, the government has directed the Board of Investment to proceed with the related process. It was also discussed in the investment board meeting and it was decided to proceed with the implementation. Now this work will proceed rapidly."
Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah was absent in the discussion. Balen has repeatedly criticized the federal government.
Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City Chiribabu Maharjan, Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Sunita Dangol and other mayors and deputy mayors of municipalities within Kathmandu Valley were present in the discussion. The meeting was organized to discuss the possible coordination among three tiers of government regarding waste management.
