Government investigates Durga Prasai's weapons license issuance

KATHMANDU: Following the arrest of two bodyguards of Durga Prasai with weapons at the Supreme Court premises on March 18, the government has launched an investigation into the issuance of Prasai's weapons license.

An official committee, headed by Rajendra Dev Pandey, Joint Secretary of the Home Ministry, has been formed to conduct the probe.

Prasai claims to have obtained permission to carry the weapon from the District Administration Office in Jhapa.

The committee has been given a 15-day deadline to complete the investigation and submit its findings.
