Karnali Bridge reopens for traffic following fire incident
LAMKI: Following a temporary closure due to a fire incident, the Karnali bridge has been reopened for traffic today. The decision to reopen the bridge came after a thorough assessment of the damage caused by the fire, which originated from a truck loaded with gas lighters.
Engineer Niraj Shakya from the Road Division Office in Nepalgunj stated that the bridge was deemed safe for travel after an on-site evaluation and consultation with experts.
The assessment concluded that crossing the bridge posed no risk to commuters.
The fire incident, which occurred last Monday, resulted in the wire ropes of the iconic bridge catching fire.
Consequently, authorities closed the bridge for traffic until an expert team from the road division office could inspect the damage.
With the bridge now reopened, normal traffic flow is expected to resume, providing relief to commuters and facilitating smoother transportation in the region.
