Dr. Bhattarai convenes NSP's Central Executive Committee meeting
KATHMANDU: Nepal Samajwadi Party (NSP) Chairman, Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, has called for an urgent meeting of the party's Central Executive Committee.
The summons comes in response to the recent announcement by leaders such as Mahindra Ray Yadav and Ganga Narayan Shrestha defecting to the CPN-Maoist Center.
Yesterday, Yadav's faction consented to split from the party and merge with the Maoist Center, prompting Dr. Bhattarai to convene the meeting swiftly.
The primary agenda for the Executive Committee gathering will revolve around addressing the recent defections and their implications for the party's future.
In a significant development on Saturday morning, Yadav, Shrestha, and other NSP members, in the presence of Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, reached a consensus on four key points, signaling their intent to unite the party.
Dr. Bhattarai has expressed concern that Yadav and Shrestha's agreement bypassed the party's established decision-making process. He indicated that both individuals may face consequences for their actions during today's meeting.
