NC demands govt explanation on Lamichhane's appointment as Home Minister in HoR session

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress, the main opposition party, has raised concerns during a House of Representatives session regarding the appointment of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President and lawmaker Rabi Lamichhane as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs.

In the session, NC lawmakers called for a government response regarding the appointment of the Home Minister.

As the session began, NC representatives stood from their seats, prompting Speaker Devraj Ghimire to grant time to Badri Prasad Pandey to articulate the party's stance.

Pandey voiced apprehensions regarding the appointment of an individual currently under investigation for alleged misappropriation of cooperative funds.

This appointment, he argued, raises doubts about the integrity of any ensuing investigation into the matter.

Pandey further demanded the Speaker to intervene and request a proper response from the Prime Minister.

In response, the Speaker acknowledged the gravity of the issue and expressed hope that the government would duly address it.
