20 political parties apply for by-elections in Ilam and Bajhang districts

KATHMANDU: The political landscape gears up as 20 parties submit their applications for the upcoming by-elections in Ilam and Bajhang, scheduled for April 27.

Among the applicants, 20 parties seek representation in the House of Representatives (HoR), while 19 aim for seats in the Provincial Assembly.

Notable contenders include Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Center), Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), and CPN (Unified Socialist), among others.

RSP has exclusively opted for participation in the HoR race.

The by-elections were prompted by the unfortunate passing of UML leader Subhash Nembang, leading to the need for polls in Ilam-2.

Similarly, the loss of Nepali Congress leader Prithvi Bahadur Singh in an accident necessitates elections in Bajhang-1.
