PNG triumphs over Nepal to win Tri-Nations T20I Series

KATHMANDU: In a thrilling showdown in Hong Kong, Papua New Guinea (PNG) emerged victorious in the Tri-nations T20 International Series finals, defeating Nepal by a commanding 86-run margin.

Opting to bowl first after winning the toss, Nepal's bowlers put up a commendable effort, restricting PNG to a total of 171 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Leading the charge for Nepal, Kushal Bhurtel and Aakash Chand showcased their bowling prowess, each claiming three wickets, while Karan KC and Gulsan Jha chipped in with one wicket apiece.

However, despite a solid performance with the ball, Nepal's batting faltered in the chase. None of their batsmen managed to make a significant impact, and the team was eventually bowled out for a mere 85 runs in 16.3 overs.

In the face of Nepal's batting collapse, PNG's bowlers, including Kabua Morea, Semo Kamea, Chad Soper, and Sese Bau, proved to be too much to handle, each picking up two wickets, while Alei Nao contributed with one wicket.

With this resounding victory, PNG claimed the Tri-nations T20I Series title, showcasing their dominance throughout the tournament.
