Narayan Dahal elected Chairman of National Assembly
KATHMANDU: In a decisive moment for Nepal's political landscape, Narayan Dahal, representing the CPN (Maoist Center) and supported by the ruling alliance, has emerged victorious in the race for the Chairman of the National Assembly.
Dahal's victory came with an impressive tally of 39 votes, comfortably meeting the required majority threshold.
It is worth noting that a minimum of 29 votes was necessary for securing the Chairmanship.
The competition primarily centered on two candidates who officially declared their candidacies on Monday — Narayan Dahal, representing the Maoist Center, and Yuvraj Sharma, backed by the Nepali Congress.
