Nepali Congress whips lawmakers to oppose PM Dahal in vote of confidence

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress, the primary opposition party, has directed its lawmakers to vote against Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal during the upcoming vote of confidence scheduled for March 13.

Ramesh Lekhak, Chief Whip of the NC's parliamentary party, issued a press statement urging lawmakers to oppose PM Dahal.

Additionally, the party has mandated its lawmakers to attend the House of Representatives (HoR) meeting on March 13 without fail.

Following the formation of a new alliance comprising CPN (Maoist Center), CPN-UML, RSP, JSP, and CPN (US), the Nepali Congress withdrew its support from the Dahal-led government.

It is stipulated that a Prime Minister must seek a vote of confidence within 30 days of a party withdrawing its support from the government.
