South Korea approves participation of all EPS applicants in language exams starting January 20
KATHMANDU: The South Korean government has given its nod for all applicants of the EPS Korean language examination to partake in the upcoming exams, as revealed by Dandu Raj Ghimire, Director General at the Foreign Employment Department.
A recent dispute in Kathmandu arose when the EPS Korea Section initially restricted shipbuilding applicants from engaging in the language examinations. The decision sparked clashes between students and the police, resulting in the unfortunate loss of two Nepali youths.
Responding to the legal interventions, the High Court issued two orders, directing authorities to permit shipbuilding applicants to participate in alternative Korean language exams.
Providing an update, Ghimire stated that the HRD Center of Korea has now granted approval for all applicants to join the language examinations. The exams are set to commence on January 20 in three phases, accommodating 47,000, 80,000, and 37,000 applicants in the first, second, and third phases, respectively.
A significant total of 164,716 students have submitted applications, expressing keen interest in opportunities within Korea's thriving manufacturing sector.
