IGP Kunwar off to Austria to attend INTERPOL General Assembly

KATHMANDU, Nov 26: Inspector General of Police, Basanta Bahadur Kunwar, left here today for Austria to take part in the 91st INTERPOL General Assembly scheduled to take place on November 28-December 1 in Vienna, Austria. 

IGP Kunwar serving as the chief of the National Central Bureau (NCB) for INTERPOL is accompanied by INTERPOL section Chief Superintendent of Police, Anup Shumsher JB Rana, and police personnel Purushottam Nepali. 

Police Sub-Inspector Nepali who successfully climbed Mt Everest carrying the national flag of Nepal, the official flags of INTERPOL and the Nepal Police on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of INTERPOL has been specially invited to the event to be attended by representatives of 195 INTERPOL member nations. 

The Nepal Police Chief is scheduled to engage in a courtesy meeting with INTERPOL General Secretary Jurgen Stock. 

Likewise, the Nepali delegation will engage in bilateral talks and meetings with representatives from the INTERPOL's Global Outreach and representatives from India, China and the UAE on the sidelines of the General Assembly. 

In the absence of Kunwar, Additional Inspector General of Police, Tek Prasad Rai, is to take charge of the daily administrative affairs of the Nepal Police Headquarters.
