Deputy Speaker meets her Bangladeshi counterpart

KATHMANDU, Nov 23: Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Federal Parliament of Nepal, Ms Indira Rana Magar had a meeting with the Deputy Speaker of the National Parliament of Bangladesh, Md. Shamsul Haque Tuku at the latter's office on November 22.

During the meeting, they exchanged views on matters of mutual interest and discussed the role of parliamentary exchanges in further strengthening the bilateral ties between Nepal and Bangladesh, the Embassy of Nepal, Dhaka stated in a press release, which was issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today.

In the meeting, they also deliberated on the need to strengthen economic cooperation, enhance connectivity and promote people-to-people contacts between the two countries.

Earlier on Wednesday, Deputy Speaker Rana Magar, as the Chief Guest, addressed an event entitled 'Youth Talk' organized by the Global Youth Development Council (GYDC). She spoke on the need to utilize the demographic dividend of both countries for economic growth and prosperity. Highlighting the strong educational ties between Nepal and Bangladesh, she emphasized the importance of youth leadership in bringing the two countries closer.

Ambassador Ghanshyam Bhandari also attended the event as the Special Guest. Speaking on the occasion, he underscored the pivotal role of youth in further consolidating Nepal-Bangladesh relations through cooperation in culture, education, digital connectivity, sports and people-to-people contacts.

On 21 November, the Deputy Speaker attended an interaction programme followed by a dinner hosted by Bangladesh Scouts.

Deputy Speaker Rana Magar is on a visit to Bangladesh from 19-23 November.
