EC proposes to hold election on Jan 24 for 19 seats of NA going to be vacant

KATHMANDU, Nov 1: The Election Commission has proposed to hold an election on the 24th of January, 2024, for the 19 seats of the National Assembly that are going to become vacant. Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya proposed this while speaking during the meeting of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee under the House of Representatives.

He said that it is necessary to hold the election on the 24th, 25th or 26th of January and that the government should make a decision.

19 seats of the National Assembly are going to become vacant on the 3rd of March, 2024. 

There is a provision to hold the election a month before the seats are vacant.
