ACC U-19 Premier Cup Cricket: Nepal defeats Iran

KATHMANDU, Oct 12: Nepal defeated Iran by a huge margin of 274 runs in the ACC U-19 Premier Cup cricket tournament on Thursday. After losing the toss and being invited to bat first, Nepal scored 353 runs before being all out in 40.1 overs.

Chasing a huge target, Iran, who went into batting in response, managed to score only 79 runs before being bowled out in 30.5 overs. Iran's batsmen, who were chasing a big target, were put under pressure from the beginning by Nepalese bowlers.

For Nepal, Captain Dev Khanal made a century. He hit four sixes and 12 fours facing 60 balls. Similarly, Wicketkeeper-batsman Deepak Prasad Dumre scored 69 runs in 44 balls, opener batsman Deepak Bohara scored 65 runs in 59 balls, Deepak Kandel made 29 runs, Subash Bhandari made an undefeated 18 runs, while Hemanta Dhami scored 23 runs and Akash Chand 19 runs.

Irani bowlers Dadrahman Raeisi and Salman Niazmand took 3 wickets each, while Zeid Raeisi and Samaan Sheikhi took two wickets each.

Bowlers Dipesh Kandel and Subash Bhandari both took three wickets for Nepal, while Akash Chand and Hemanta Dhami took two wickets each.
