Child sex abuse charges on UML Jumla Vice-Chair, Complaint registered

SURKHET, Oct 11: The Vice Chairman of the CPN UML Jumla District Committee, Surat Bahadur Shahi, has been charged with child sex abuse. An audio clip, where Shahi proposed to a minor for sex, has gone viral on social media.

In the audio, he is heard tempting and persuading the minor, a resident of Tatopani. A complaint has been registered against Shahi for sexual abuse of a 17-year-old girl, Jumla Police informed.

Based on the complaint registered on Tuesday, police have initiated necessary action in the case of crime against children. The victim's father has filed a complaint under Section 66 of the Children Act 2075.

Further investigation is being done on the matter, informed the Information Officer of the District Police Office, Jumla, Umesh Chand.
