Chief Minister Karki to obtain vote of confidence today
BIRATNAGAR, Oct 7: Koshi Chief Minister Hikmat Kumar Karki is scheduled to obtain the vote of confidence today.
The fourth session of the Provincial Assembly has been ongoing since October 4 in order for Karki to obtain the vote of confidence. Karki became the Chief Minister of the province in accordance with Article 168 (3) of the Constitution per the order of the Supreme Court.
If Chief Minister Karki does not receive the vote of confidence, he will automatically be relieved of his post and the process of forming another government will begin per Clause 5 of Article 168 of the Constitution.
The provincial assembly has 93 members including 40 MPs from UML, 29 from Congress, 13 from Maoist Centre, 6 from RPP, 4 from Unified Socialist and 1 from JSP. 47 MPs are required to reach the majority for the formation of the government.
