Indra Jatra begins in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU, Sep 26: The festival, Indra Jatra, has begun on Tuesday in Kathmandu. With the lifting of the flag of Indra in Hanuman Dhoka of Kathmandu Durbar Square Tuesday morning, the Indra Jatra has officially started.

The Indra Jatra is traditionally celebrated by worshipping Indra, the god of rain and abundance, and this festival is taken as one of the biggest, merriest and most important festivals celebrated in Kathmandu.

It has been informed that President Paudel along with other notable persons are scheduled to observe the Indra Jatra at Hanuman Dhoka on September 28, Thursday, the main day of the festival.
