School staff conclude the agreement with government to be successful
KATHMANDU, Sep 24: The Nepal School Staff Council has concluded that the 6-point agreement signed with the government has been successful for school staff.
The Council has said that the demands raised by the school staff have been addressed in the agreement. Subjects such as quota adjustment, receiving sick leaves and medical treatment expenses and the process of making them permanent through internal competition are included in the agreement.
Council Chairman Gangaram Tiwari has said that the federal MPs will be pressured to propose amendments to the Bill registered in the parliament per the agreement. He added that they will hold discussions with top leaders of the political parties as well as lobbying the MPs.
The teachers started a strike on September 20 after their demands were not met in the Education Bill registered in the parliament. Along with the Council, the Nepal Teachers Federations also went on strike.
