'Youth Short Film Competition' concludes

KATHMANDU, Sep 24: 'Youth Short Film Competition' organised by the Oscar Film College has been concluded.   

'Babal', the film by Sajil Basnet targeting audiences under 20 years of age has won the title of the competition and bagged Rs 100,000 while 'Vairagya' directed by Chhitij Jaisawal and 'Khokro' by Dev Tamang have won the second and third prizes carrying a purse of Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively, according to Manoj Babu Pant, the member in the jury panel which included director Niranjan Bhetwal and cinematographer Ujjwal Bastakoti. 

Themes of the films, story crafting, technical aspects, visuals and languages were the basis of judging the films that the team received for the competition.  

Likewise, 'The Poet' by Nirakar Bhakta Rai has won the special mention word. 

As college principal Ramraja Dahal said, the event aimed to explore new talents in the film industry. "The film itself is a creative genre and the competition aims to recognize youth talents in the industry," he said.
