Journalists awarded at 54th anniversary of Press Council

KATHMANDU, Sep 23: Journalists have been given awards and honours on the occasion of the 54th annual celebration of the Press Council of Nepal. The awards were handed to them by President Ramchandra Paudel and Communication Minister Rekha Sharma at Shital Niwas on Saturday.

This year's Press Council Gopaldas Journalism Award has been given to Journalist Nirmala Sharma. The Council has given honours to 16 people. The honoured journalists are Bijay Chalise, Kul Chandra Wagle, Dharmendra Jha, Gagan Bista, Rajan Karki, Narendra Jung Peter, Raju Silwal, Ramesh Tufan, Man Mohan Swar, Rabindra Ghimire, Kedar Bhattarai, Moti Paudel, Krishna Adhikari, Ramesh Paudel, Uday GM and Rajkumar Karki.

The Press Council Surendra Bahadur Basnet Journalism Award has been received by Journalist Daman Rai. Similarly, the Press Council Empowered Journalists Award has been handed to Journalists Sagar Pandit and Chudamani Bhattarai. And the Press Council Code of Conduct Award has been received by Chesta Weekly, Ram Mani Dahal and Madhav Singh Dhami.

Similarly, the Press Council Active Journalism Award has been received by 16 Journalists. Among those awarded are Journalists Bimal Gyawali, Jiban Bhandari, Shankar Rokka, Shyam Dutta Bhatta, Ramkala Khadka, Tara Chandra Devkota, Bhishma Raj Ojha, Madhav Basnet, Ram Krishna Adhikari, Chandani Acharya, Damodar Neupane, Maniraj (Mohan) Bastola, Ramesh Giri, Ramesh Shahi, Prem Kumar Acharya and Birendra Raman.

On the other hand, the Press Council Youth Journalism Award has been given to 19 Journalists. The award was received by Journalists Pandav Sharma, Min Thakuri, Birendra KC, Sanjib Ghimire, Krishna Oli, Dipa Regmi, Madan Koirala, Subash Pandit, Yuvraj Khadka, Narendra Singh Karki, Amrit Prasad Paudel, Binod Kumar Malla, Bhanu Bhakta Niraula, Hari Bhandari, Bijay Rawat, Jagadishwar Pandey, Raju Lamichhane, Indra Bibas DC and Omkar Acharya.

The Press Council Women's Empowerment Journalism Award has been received by Pabitra Sunar, Bhawani Adhikari, Tara Chapagain, Durga Acharya, Rupa Ghimire and Gaganshila Khadka. Similarly, the Press Council Inclusive Journalism Award has been handed to 7 people. The awarded journalists are Santosh Singh, Man Kumar Gadal, Sharmila Budhathoki, Ritesh Tripathi, Rajani Yogi, Binod Pariyar and Firoj Siddhiki.

Finally, the Press Council Category Journalism Award has been received by Keshab Thokar and Nemish Gautam, Press Council Literary Award has been received by Khimananda Pokharel from Himal Guras Bimonthy and the Press Council Linguistic Journalism Award has been received by Ram Bharos Kapadi, the Editor of 'Aanjur Bimonthly' in Maithili language.
