UML Vice Chairman Subash Nemwang passes away
KATHMANDU, Sep 12: Subash Nemwang, the Vice Chairman of the CPN-UML and the former Chairman of the Constituent Assembly, has passed away.
UML leader Khimlal Bhattarai informed that Nemwang passed away due to a heart attack during treatment at the TU Teaching Hospital.
His family reportedly took him to the hospital after he suffered a heart attack at his residence in Baluwatar, but he was declared by his doctors.
Nemwang was elected from Ilam-2 in the elections of the House of Representatives held last Mangsir. He is also the deputy leader of the UML parliamentary party.
Nemwang was also the Speaker of the House of Representatives which was re-established in 2063 BS, the Speaker of the Legislative Parliament in 2064 BS, and the Chairman of the Constituent Assembly in 2065 and 2070 BS.
He was also a member of the National Assembly from 2048 to 2052 BS. He was also elected from Ilam-2 as a member of the National Assembly in 2064 and 2070 BS.
Nemwang became the State Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs in 2051 BS and was also the Minister of General Administration and the Minister of Local Development.
Before entering politics, he was a lawyer and a lecturer at the Nepal Law Campus. He was also a Presidential candidate of Nepal in the last election.
Various political leaders, party personnel and well-wishers have reached the Maharajgunj TU Teaching Hospital following the news of Nemwang’s death. Prime Minister Prachanda and UML Chairman Oli have also reached the hospital.
