BEIJING, Sep 11: The General Secretary of CPN-UML, Shankar Pokharel, and the head of the International Liaison Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Liu Jianchao, held a meeting in Beijing today.
General Secretary Pokharel brought up the issue of the map of Nepal in the meeting and said that the map was passed and issued by the Parliament per the Sugauli Treaty of 1816 AD.
He also added that he had to face pressure and hardships because of Nepal's new map and asked for China's support on the issue of the map issued by China.
"We want the support of the Chinese government and the Chinese Communist Party. We are firmly in favour of the One China policy. We reject the anti-China activities inside the land of Nepal", said Pokharel.
He has also informed China that he is in favour of the implementation of the agreements signed between the former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Chinese President Xi Jinping, in the President's previous Nepal visit.
In response, Liu Jianchao thanked the CPN-UML for being firm in favour of the One China Policy. "The unity between the CPN-UML and the CPC is strong and intimate. We want to take it to a new height", said Liu.
Liu also warned Nepal of the forces that do not want a close relationship between China and Nepal and said that they are determined to implement the agreements signed between former PM Oli and President Jinping.
