Hearing of writ against Koshi Province CM starts in full bench

KATHMANDU, Sep 4: The hearing of the writ filed against the Chief Minister of the Koshi Province in the Supreme Court saying the vote of confidence he took was unconstitutional, has begun in the full bench.

The hearing on the writ has begun in the full bench with Justices Sapana Pradhan Malla, Dr. Kumar Chudal and Nahakul Subedi on Monday after the joint bench of Justices Sapana Pradhan Malla and Sushmalata Mathema on Sunday ordered for the writ to be heard by the full bench.

When Thapa took the vote of confidence on August 21, he had made the majority by taking the vote of Congress MP Israili Mansuri, also the Provincial Assembly Chairperson. Against that, UML leader Hikmat Kumar Karki, who is also a former Chief Minister, had filed a case. On the 24th of August, Justice Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada issued a show cause order during the initial hearing of the writ.
