India imposes 40 percent tax on onion exports

KATHMANDU, Aug 20: India's Ministry of Finance has imposed a 40 percent tax on all exports of onions. It will remain in effect until December 31, 2023.

According to Consumer Secretary Rohit Kumar Singh, this new rule was imposed to improve the internal supply system of India.

The price of onion in the domestic market of India is 30.62 Indian rupees at present. The price has increased by 20.75 percent compared to last year. The price of onion was 25.44 Indian rupees last year.
