Prime Minister launches social security scheme for 5 million workers in informal sectors

KATHMANDU, Aug 16: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has launched the social security scheme for more than 5 million workers in the informal sector.

The social scheme was formally announced by the Prime Minister in a program held at Pragya Bhawan in Kamaladi.

According to the scheme, the government will cover more than 5 million informal sector workers and self-employed people will be covered in the Social Security Fund.

The informal sector is divided into four sectors including agriculture, transport, construction and domestic sectors. The Director of the Fund, Dr Roshan Koju, informed that the digital photos, mobile numbers, parents' names, bank accounts and other documents of the workers are required for the scheme.
