Airfares will be taxed starting today

KATHMANDU, July 17: VAT will be adjusted on airfares starting Monday, today. The Nepal Airlines Operators Association issued a press release that indicated that VAT will be implemented on all air services from July 17.
The government decided to impose VAT on airfares for the first time through the Economic Bill (Budget). Although there were various criticisms against the government's decision to transfer air services to VAT, the air service operators were forced to go to Value Added Tax (VAT).
With the start of the new fiscal year, VAT will be implemented from Monday and the VAT will be adjusted on the fares, the association has informed.
