Nepal sets target of 269 runs against Ireland

KATHMANDU, July 4: Nepal has set a target of 269 runs against Ireland in the playoff stage of the ICC ODI World Cup Qualifiers. After losing the toss and being invited to bat first, Nepal scored a total of 268 runs in 50 overs, losing 9 wickets.

Gulsan Jha scored half a century by himself for Nepal. He faced 42 balls and scored an undefeated 57 runs. He scored three sixes and four fours. Arjun Saud also scored 48 runs. Kushal Malla scored 44 runs and Sandip Lamichhane added 32 runs.

Opener batsman Kushal Bhurtel was dismissed after scoring 8 runs for Nepal. His wicket was taken by Craig Young. The second wicket was also taken by Craig Young, dismissing Batsman Gyanendra Malla after only 7 runs. 

Captain Rohit Paudel returned to the pavilion after 29 runs. He faced 35 balls and scored one six and two fours. The third wicket was taken by Curtis Campher for Ireland. 

The fourth wicket was taken by Gareth Delany dismissing opener batsman Arjun Saud. Saud scored 48 runs before returning to the pavilion. He faced 84 balls and scored two sixes and three fours. The fifth wicket was taken by Barry McCarthy for Ireland. Bhim Sarki scored 20 runs before being dismissed. Andy McBrine took the sixth wicket dismissing Dipendra Singh Airee.

Kushal Malla scored 44 runs before being dismissed. He faced 38 balls and scored two sixes and five fours. His wicket was taken by Barry McCarthy. Sandeep Lamichhane returned to the pavilion after scoring 32 runs. He faced 30 balls and scored one six and three fours. His wicket was taken by Mark Adair. The ninth wicket was also taken by Mark Adair. Karan KC was dismissed after scoring only four runs.
