Maoist extended meeting: Leaders discuss reasons of party's defeat in polls

Kathmandu - The CPN (Maoist Centre) leaders have argued that party's poor performance in the first and second phases of the local level polls was due to inadequate publicity of the pro-people works executed by the Prachanda-led government.
Speaking at the party's extended meeting that commenced at the party central office in Paris Danda on Monday, party in-charges of seven provinces said that end of load shedding, high economic growth rate, balanced diplomatic ties with neighbors and progress in the projects of the national pride were not well publicized among the public.
Despite the party's agenda of 'Singha Durbar in the Village-Town' was of the Maoist, the party organization was not objective as expected while lack of sufficient money resulted in party's defeat in the polls, they opined.
During their reporting of the party's performance, the in-charges of the provinces said that organizational mismanagement was the major problem.
Likewise, lack of experience about the local level polls and preparedness, delay in disseminating the spirit of party unification at the grassroots level, party leaders' poor relations with the folks and many others were the reasons for the Maoist Centre's defeat in the polls.
However, the leaders said that the total votes garnered by the Maoist party was more as compared to the votes collected in the constituent assembly (CA) polls in 2070 BS adding that the party stood second in more than 90 local units.
Coordinator of Province No. 1 Sabitri Kumar Kafle, In-charge of Province No. 2 Matrika Prasad Yadav, In-charge of Province No. 3 Hit Man Shakya, In-charge of Province No. 4 Dev Prasad Gurung, In-charge of Province No. 5 Barsha Man Pun, In-charge of Province No. 6 Shakti Bahadur Basnet and In-charge of Province No. 7 Lekh Raj Bhatta presented the reports of their respective fields during the meeting.
At the beginning of the meeting, party chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' said that anarchy and groupism have prevailed in the party and asked the leaders' readiness to mend the existing status.
Party spokesperson Pampha Bhusal said that the next meeting shall held at 11:00 am on Monday.
