Nepal meeting Myanmar for second round of AFCU-20 Asian Cup qualification

KATHMANDU, June 6: Nepal will be facing host Myanmar in the AFC U-20 Women's Asian Cup Qualifiers this evening.  Presently, Nepal is in Myanmar to play the second round of qualification that began on June 3. The match between Nepal and Myanmar will take place today at 5:45 pm as per Nepal time.  

The qualification will determine the teams to participate in the 2024 AFC U-20 Asian Cup final. China, Myanmar and Chinese Taipei along with Nepal are in Group B of the tournament.   

In the first round of qualification held in Palestine, Nepal defeated the host and North Marina Island, securing its place in the second round. It defeated both teams by 6-0 each. 

Nepal team coach Yam Prasad Gurung said the team is confident of its success in each match following its achievement in the first round. "Nepal is competing with teams who are higher in the FIFA rankings, but it is determined to face competitors with a high morale."   

The Nepali lineup comprises Kabita BK, Leela Joshi and Sabitri Kisan are goalkeepers for the team while Sabina Chaudhary, Tulasa Bohara, Sunita Bhulan, Simaran Rai, Dibya Yasmali Magar, Pratiksha Chaudhary, Sajani Thokar and Kumar Tamang as defenders; Saraswoti Hamal, Manamaya Damai, Sunakala Rai, Deepa Shahi, Hima Rawat, Susma GT, Sara Bajracharya and Anjali Machamasi as midfielders and Garima Rai, Amisha Karki, Mamata Pun and Sandipa Bholan as forwards. 

Nepal will meet China on June 8 and Chinese Taipei on June 10.
