NEPSE index drops by 20 points on first trading day, With all sub-indexes in the red

KATHMANDU, April 2: On the first trading day, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index dropped by 20 points, closing at 1,888.55 points.

Despite over 3.7 million shares being traded from the 260 listed companies, amounting to over Rs 1.20 billion, the sub-index of all groups is in the red today.

Among the groups, the trade group's sub-index has seen the highest decrease by 54.99 points, followed by non-life insurance at 47.24 points, banking at 23.89 points, hotel and tourism at 18.91 points, hydropower at 41.68 points, investment at 0.74 points, and life insurance at 36.4 points.

The production and processing group saw a drop of 35.72 points, while the microfinance group decreased by 35.84 points, mutual fund group by 0.02 points, and other groups by 10.97 points.

In terms of individual companies, Kalinchok Darshan Limited saw the highest increase in share price by 9.96 percent, while Swabhiman Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd. had the highest fall, with a decrease of 9.61 points. With all sub-indexes in the red, the NEPSE index's drop suggests a challenging day for the stock market.
