Asif's century, a record target of 298 runs for PNG by Nepal

KATHMANDU, March 9: With the help of Asif Shaikh's century, Nepal has set a record target of 298 runs to Papua New Guinea (PNG) in ICC Men's Cricket World Cup League 2.

After losing the toss and batting first at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Nepal scored 297 runs after losing all the wickets in 1 ball in the scheduled 49 overs.
This is the highest total in ODI cricket in Nepal so far.

Asif played 110 balls for Nepal and scored 110 runs with the help of 10 fours and 2 sixes, while Kusal Bhurtel scored 45 runs for Nepal, and Bhim Sarki contributed 44 runs. Nepal's captain Rohit Kumar Paudel also added 30 runs. 

Semo Kamiya took five wickets for PNG and Riley Hakure took three wickets.

Nepal is planning to make a good start in the series by winning today's match. If Nepal wins all four matches in the series, Nepal will qualify for the World Cup.
