Former king offers collaboration with political parties

Now we can not stay silent

KATHMANDU, Feb. 18: Former King Gyanendra Shah has proposed cooperation with the political parties. He said that political parties which are indispensable for democracy to save the country and the monarchy which has a long patriotic historical legacy should not be delayed for cooperation with mutual trust.

While issuing a greeting message on the eve of National Democracy Day, Shah said that he could no longer remain silent about the continuous decline of Nepal, and he expressed his concern that the country's long-term peace, stability, and international respect and sovereignty have started to erode in recent years. He has said, "Even though the reins of the state power have been in the hands of many repeatedly, or even though it has changed, our existing state system does not seem to be able to make any profound contribution to the happiness, peace, and prosperity of the nation."

Former King Shah has expressed hope for the participation of the youth in the recently concluded general elections and some promising results.
