Hospital under construction at local level stalled

Jumla, Feb. 16: The hospitals under construction at the local level in Jumla have been stalled. Out of the hospitals that the then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli laid the foundation stones of at the local level all over the country, the hospitals in Jumla are stuck.

The 10-bed hospital in Tila Rural Municipality-3 Kudari, which was laid by the then Minister of State for Health and Population Navraj Rawat, has fallen into disrepair. The federal government had allocated a budget of 120 million for the construction of the hospital. Although the agreement was to finish the building work in Magh 2079, it is still in limbo.

According to Dhanprasad Chaulagain, sub-engineer of Tila rural municipality, Jumla, only 20 percent of the construction of the hospital has been completed so far. He said that the work was stopped because of the budget not arriving on time.

Similarly, the 15-bed hospital in Handsinja in Kankasundari Rural Municipality is also limited to the foundation stone laying. The government allocated a budget of 185 million rupees to build the hospital and the locals provided about 4,000 square meters of land for free to build the hospital.
