Government negotiates with Transport Workers and Businessmen

Instructions to allow vehicles carrying married, sick and students to run

KATHMANDU, Feb. 14: The government has negotiated with Transport Workers and Businessmen. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Narayankaji Shrestha along with Secretary of the Ministry, and Head of Traffic Police Meera Chaudhary participated in the talks held at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport. The transport businessmen and labour organizations were present as well.
The government called the transport businessmen for talks due to the serious attention drawn towards the movement in the Balaju Bypass area.
The public transport shutdown called by the agitated transport workers in Kathmandu Valley has affected the lives of common citizens. Bishnu Gurung, president of All Nepal Transport Workers' Association, Bagmati Province, told Ratopati that the protestors were instructed to allow the vehicles carrying married, sick, and students to run.
The protest began after transport workers were beaten up at Lhotse Mall on Monday. Bhim Jwala, president of All Nepal Independent Workers' Organization, said that the movement was not only against Lhotse but also against the Traffic policemen of the valley.
