Mystery of Yeti Airlines plane crash

Propellers of both engines were feathered

KATHMANDU, Feb. 6: The mystery of the accident of Yeti Airlines, which had an accident during the Kathmandu-Pokhara flight on Magh 1, has been revealed. After the 9N-ANC ATR plane accident, the government commission of inquiry concluded that the propellers of both engines feathered in the base leg of the airplane while it was landing and the accident occurred.
According to the commission, when the propellers of the engine go into the feather during landing, excessive friction will be generated and the ship will fall like a stone.
However, as to why the propellers of both the engines of the ship went to feather, the commission has proceeded with further investigation on both technical and human aspects.
9N-ANC ATR of Yeti Airlines, carrying 68 passengers with 4 crew members from Kathmandu to Pokhara, met with an accident at the gorge of Seti river near Pokhara International Airport on Magh 1. All 72 people on board died.
Immediately after the accident, the government formed an accident investigation commission. The commission has analyzed the flight data recorder and cockpit voice recorder data at the Transport Safety Investigation Bureau in Singapore along with the study of the facts of the accident and the black box. The Commission's coordinator, aviation expert, and member secretary had gone to Singapore. They have returned to Nepal after research and analysis.
The commission came back after further studying various flight and technical aspects in the simulator of the ATR ship in Singapore and came to this conclusion. However, Buddhi Sagar Lamichhane, member secretary of the commission and head of the aviation division of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, informed that the commission is investigating the accident further.
