Lal Prasad and Indra's journey ends in quarterfinals

KATHMANDU, Jan. 21: The third day of the ASBC Asian U22 Boxing Championship 2023 in the men's weight group of 19 bouts has been completed at the Huamark Indoor Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Nepali boxer duo Lal Prasad Upreti and Indra Bahadur Sunar lost in the quarter-final bouts completed today. In bout number 21, male boxer Lal Prasad Upreti of 48 kg weight group lost to Filipino player Durantmark Lefcher on the basis of 5:0 points, while in bout number 30, the male side of 57 kg weight group, Nepali boxer Indra Bahadur Sunar lost against Mongolian boxer Gantumar Lunda in the second round based on RAC. Sunar defeated the boxers from Laos by 5:0 in the pre-quarters. This is the third time Sunar participated in the international competition, while it is the first time for Lal Prasad Upreti.
The participating boxers from Nepal in the women's category are Susma Tamang in the 48 kg weight group, Hema Rai in the 57 kg weight group, and Trisha Jabegu in the 75 kg weight group. On January 22, they will play against Mongolian boxer Besenbei Zanarguli, Mongolian boxer Batur Zeljargal, and Kazakhstani Erjan Gulsay respectively, while in the men's 86 kg weight group, Vijay will play Indonesian boxer Meskita Michael in the semi-finals on January 23.
The 20 participating countries in the ASBC Asian U22 Boxing Championship 2023  are Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Vietnam, Uzbekistan and the host country Thailand.
