Labour department prepares for action, Foreign players have not taken labour permit
KATHMANDU, Jan. 6: The Department of Labour and Occupational Safety aims to start preparing for action against the foreign players who came to Nepal T-20 League for not taking the work permit. Maninath Gope, the spokesperson of the department, informed that they will proceed according to the legal process since none of the players have taken a work permit from the department.
Although 32 foreign players from 6 teams have requested for labour approval, they have not yet taken it.
"So far, no player has taken a work permit. We are rushing them again and again. We are aware of the news in the media. Now we will proceed with the legal process," said the spokesperson Gope in a conversation with Ratopati. On the 8th of Push, 6 related clubs applied for labour approval. After the necessary documents were incomplete, the department demanded additional documents. However, no club has submitted additional documents to the department so far.
The recommendation of the Ministry of Home Affairs along with the Ministry of Youth and Sports is required regarding foreign players. "Each player has to pay 15,000 rupees for labour approval. If the labour permit is not taken, there is a legal provision that they can be fined up to two lakh rupees," he added.
The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority had also instructed the department to send a reply within 7 days, whether or not foreign players had taken labour approval, on the 18th of Push.
