Home Minister at Police Headquarters: Procedure is being made for transfer

"Days of 'ours' gone, days of 'the good' begin"

KATHMANDU, Dec. 30: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane has inspected the police headquarters. While inspecting the police headquarters in Naxal, Lamichhane said that he would strive to increase service facilities for police personnel. Lamichhane, who gave a written speech for about 20 minutes, warned the police officers not to rush to the leader's house to be transferred, which will not happen. "Transfer and promotion will be done by a new procedure," said the Home Minister.
Lamichhane mentioned that those who ran to leaders' houses in the past will be assessed later. He said, "The practice of going to the leaders' houses should be stopped", and warned that action will be taken against the officials who run to the leaders' houses.
Proclaiming that the days of the 'ours' in police have passed, the home minister said, "The days of the 'good' have begun." The home minister, who was angry against the practice of rushing to the leaders' houses, said that he would not transfer those following the practice. He told that the current standards for transfer and promotion will be revised.
He urged the police to be ruthless against hooliganism, stating that the police should be "a fear for the perpetrator and home for the victim". Quoting Lamichhane's statement, "I will instruct the head of the organization to be ruthless in financial discipline," a police officer said to Ratopati, "There should be zero tolerance in financial discipline."
He instructed the police officers to refrain from visiting the home ministry and the minister's residence for personal matters. "My door is open for soldiers and constables too," he said, "but don't come to me with personal work other than the interests of the organization."
Lamichhane gave instructions to the Superintendent of Police and officers above working in the valley in the auditorium hall of the police headquarters. He addressed the DIGs and district in-charges of the 7 states through video conference.
Inspector General of Police Dhiraj Pratap Singh mentioned that the process of transfer and promotion is still in place and requested to review it. IGP Singh said, " From now on, it is impossible to stay for a year in the place where there is a posting." He added that work will be evaluated every day.
