US Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lu in Nepal, scheduled to hold high level meetings today
KATHMANDU, July 28: United States Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Affairs, Donald Lu, is currently in Kathmandu and is scheduled to hold high level meetings today.
Lu, who arrived in Kathmandu on Thursday, is scheduled to hold meetings with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and Minister for Foreign Affairs Narayan Khadka on Friday.
Lu’s visit comes at the time when Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s visit has been canceled and the country has scrapped the State Partnership Program (SPP) with the USA. During his visit, Lu will be holding high level meetings.
Secretary Lu had earlier visited Nepal before the endorsement of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Nepal-Compact of the USA.
In the past four months, the USA has conducted five high level visits to Nepal.
