Nepal’s passport ranks 105th, weaker than previous year

Japan, Singapore have the strongest passports

KATHMANDU, Jan 12: Nepal’s passport has been ranked 105th  in the list of 111 countries.

According to a report published by the Henley Passport Index, Nepal has slipped one notch down in the global ranking compared to 104th in 2021. 

The report reveals that Nepal, which has 37 visa-free scores, has been ranked one par lower than North Korea which has 39 visa-free scores. 

The only two countries which rank lower than Nepal are Pakistan (31) and Afghanistan (26). 

According to the report, Japan and Singapore are the world's most powerful travel documents while Afghanistan is at the bottom of the table. Japanese and Singapore passport holders have visa-free access to 192 destinations across the world. 

Nepalese passport holders need to acquire a visa before making it to 190 destinations. Last year, the number was 188.
