Five protesting against Nepal Bar Association including Nur Prasad Adhikari arrested

KATHMANDU, November 14: Five people including Nur Prasad Adhikari who were protesting at the Supreme Court against the Nepal Bar Association (NBA) were arrested on Sunday.

At the time, when the association was preparing to stage a sit-in protest at the apex court to avoid Chief Justice (CJ) Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana from entering the court, Adhikari along with four others staged a protest against the association. They were soon arrested by Police.

In recent days, when the NBA and some fellow advocates of the SC are intensifying the protest to pressurize CJ Rana to step down, supporters of CJ Rana are soon witnessed taking to the streets.

The NBA has been accusing CJ Rana of demanding his share in the Cabinet and defaming the Judiciary. They have also demanded the resignation of CJ Rana.

The major political parties and the government seem unwilling to take any position regarding the case when the country has been facing a judicial deadlock for weeks.
