KATHMANDU: Chief minister of Bagmati Province, Rajendra Pandey is taking a vote of confidence from the provincial assembly on Monday afternoon.

Pandey, who was sworn in as the chief minister of the province succeeding Ashta Laxmi Shakya on October 28, tabled the trust motion before the provincial assembly as per Article 168 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal.

Pandey, parliamentary party leader of the CPN (Unified SOcialist), has the backing of the ruling alliance comprising the Nepali Congress (NC), CPN (Maoist Center(, Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) and Rastriya Janamorcha (RJM).

Meanwhile, the main opposition CPN-UML has decided not to vote for the confidence motion tabled by CM Pandey. UML lawmaker Deepak Niraula said that the party would not support the undemocratic and unconstitutional alliance of five parties.

Similarly, Bibeksheel Sajha Party is also preparing to vote against CM Pandey’s trust motion.
